What is entity recognition and why does it matter?
It is whether an AI system can tell your brand apart from everything else with a similar name — the prerequisite for being recommended at all.
An entity is a distinct thing a system can reason about: a company, a product, a person. Recognition means the system has resolved that "Acme" in one place and "Acme" in another refer to the same thing, and that this thing is separate from other Acmes.
Without that resolution, nothing else works. Praise for you might be attributed elsewhere, or a competitor's reputation attached to you. Most often the system simply avoids the ambiguity by not mentioning you.
Recognition is built from consistency and corroboration: the same name, the same category, the same key facts, repeated across your site and confirmed by sources you do not control.
Products with generic or colliding names have to work harder here, which usually means always pairing the name with the category.
