What signals make ChatGPT treat a site as trustworthy?
Consistency across your own pages, checkable proof, and visible authorship — in roughly that order.
Consistency comes first. If your homepage, title tag, and metadata describe the product three different ways, the assistant has no stable idea of what you are. Saying the same thing in the same words across pages is unglamorous and very effective.
Checkable proof is next. Named customers, real case studies with outcomes, and review markup are all things a model can point at. Unattributed superlatives — "loved by thousands" — carry almost nothing because nothing can be verified.
Visible authorship matters more than founders expect. A real person attached to the site, with a bio and external profiles, is a meaningful credibility signal. Anonymous sites are harder to vouch for.
None of this requires scale. One named customer story and a genuine founder page outperform a wall of vague claims.
