Citation happens at the passage level, not the site level. The assistant is assembling an answer and needs a chunk of text that resolves one question completely. A paragraph that only makes sense after three preceding sections is hard to quote.
The pattern that works: a question-shaped heading, then a direct answer in the first sentence or two, then the supporting detail. Answer first, elaborate second. This is the opposite of the build-up style that reads well in a blog post.
FAQ blocks with FAQPage schema are the most reliable format because the question-answer pairing is explicit in the markup. Comparison pages work well for the same reason — the structure tells the model what each row means.
Also give each answer a stable home. A point buried in a long listicle is less citable than the same point on a page dedicated to that question.
