Why does original research matter so much?

Because it is the one kind of content that cannot be sourced from anyone else, so citing you becomes mandatory rather than optional.

Most content is a restatement of things already published elsewhere. When a system needs that fact, it has hundreds of interchangeable sources and no particular reason to pick you.

Original data breaks the substitution. If you publish the only figure on a topic, any answer using that figure has to point at you.

It does not need to be a large study. A summary of patterns across your own customers, a small benchmark, or a survey of a few hundred people is enough to be genuinely new.

Publish it in a citable shape: a clear headline number, stated methodology, a date, and a page dedicated to it rather than a mention inside a longer post.
