Are testimonials on my site as good as third-party mentions?

No. Anything you publish about yourself is first-party evidence and is weighted below sources you do not control.

First-party evidence — testimonials, case studies, claims on your own pages — is useful and worth publishing, but a system knows you chose what to show.

Third-party evidence is stronger precisely because you did not control it. Reviews on independent platforms, coverage you did not write, and unprompted mentions all corroborate.

The strongest position is agreement between the two. Your own description and outside descriptions saying the same thing is a coherent, low-risk picture.

How the markup was produced does not change the tier. A generated Review block around a real testimonial is the same evidence as a hand-written one — the substance is what is weighted.
